Through innovative manufacturing processes, this system is a cost-effective solution for specification in residential or commercial projects. The Good Design Awards Jury commented, “The Breezway Altair IGLU Double Glazed System is a state-of-the-art design that can elevate any space. The Jury commends the design team for this outstanding project and for setting the bar for good design in this category. Well done.”
“To be recognised with an Australian Good Design Award tells the world this product not only represents design excellence, but it also surpasses the criteria for design innovation and design impact. The Good Design Award is an independent endorsement of professional design quality,” said Dr. Brandon Gien, CEO of Good Design Australia and Chair of the Australian Good Design Awards.
The Double Glazed IGLU System was also awarded the 2023 Australian Glass and Window Association Design Award for “Most Innovative Window System”. This Design Award acknowledged the IGLU System as innovative, sustainable and energy efficient product that met suitable performance criteria for safety, acoustics and bushfire ratings. By receiving the AGWA and Good Design Awards this highlights the ongoing commitment Breezway has to design innovation and excellence, and also reinforces our position as a market leader in the industry.
About the Breezway Altair® IGLU® Louvre System
Developed in response to changing energy efficiency requirements in the National Construction Code (NCC), the new double glazed Altair IGLU Louvre System combines high performance with architectural aesthetics and is suitable for extreme climates.
The System uses an innovative IGU assembly method with embedded sealing and frameless glazing, making it more affordable than existing IGU louvres and is a compelling double-glazed alternative.
The new double glazed IGLU System has undergone extensive testing and exceeds the requirements of AS2047. It has passed rigorous testing for wind and water resistance, fall prevention, manufacturing quality, fire retardancy (BAL-40 compliance), and acoustic performance (Rw30). The IGLU System also significantly improves thermal performance, reducing energy consumption while maintaining excellent ventilation properties for occupant comfort and health.
The IGLU System is compatible with other Breezway innovations, such as the Stronghold® System for fall prevention compliancy and the Powerlouvre™ System for automation requirements. It can also be used with third-party framing and thermally broken framing for improved thermal efficiency. For more information please visit www.breezway.com.au/iglu
