The Block is the longest running and highest rating renovation TV show in Australia. Breezway is pleased to announce that our Altair Louvre Windows have been featured in the 2018 season of The Block, showcasing our commitment to providing innovative and high-quality products to meet the evolving needs of our customers.
The series follows five couples as they compete against each other to renovate and style apartments and sell them at auction for the highest price. In this year’s 2018 series, Breezway is proud to announce that our Altair Louvre Windows have been incorporated into the renovation of the Gatwick Hotel in St Kilda, Melbourne, courtesy of Stegbar Windows and Doors.
Stegbar (part of the JELD-WEN Group) has been a longstanding product partner of The Block and are the main suppliers again for all the windows and doors in this renovation project for 2018. Breezway Louvre Windows are used extensively in the first two levels of the external façade of this newly renovated Hotel.
Due to heritage-listed requirements, the tired run-down cedar double hung window frames on the external façade have been restored. The double hung sashes have been fixed shut out on the Terraces in Units One, Two and Three and Altair Louvre Component Systems have been installed to allow twice the amount of fresh coastal breezes into each apartment.
The new owners of each apartment will be able to sit back and enjoy their freshly ventilated apartments without the worry of sky high electricity bills due to the need to run power-hungry air conditioning all throughout the year. Not only do they allow maximum ventilation in through the window opening, they look stylish and elegant too!
By installing Altair Louvres into timber frames, high levels of energy efficiency can be maintained within the building. In fact, they offer the best energy performance available for a single glazed louvre, comparable to many double glazed aluminium systems on the market, and in some cases even better. History of the Gatwick Hotel
The Gatwick Hotel was designed by Harry Raymond Johnson Architect and first opened in 1937 as a luxurious private residential hotel. The building is just a short stroll from St Kilda’s famous boardwalk which made it even more appealing to travellers. It served as a holiday destination for people from all over the world then in the 1960’s was turned into a boarding house for low income earners.
Channel Nine purchased the run-down hotel for the fourteenth season of The Block and we are excited to see each of the room reveals over the coming weeks from all the hard work and dedication of The Block Contestants.
The Block is aired on Channel 9, weekdays at 7.30pm and 7pm on Sundays. For more insider information please visit www.9now.com.au/the-block/season-14/extras
